St. Elizabeth Ann Seton and St. John’s

St. Johns is where I attended church from about 13 until 18. Attached to the church was St. Elizabeth Ann Seton school, where I went to school from the age of 10 to 14. I absolutely hate how both these buildings look. They’re separate, but attached. I hated going to this church because it was so ugly and seemed so out of date. It was difficult to have respect for the mass when I felt like I was in such a hideous environment.

The beams on the ceiling felt out of place. The lighting was so yellow. The roof was so low like a 60s house. Everything was so brown. The dark brown paneling outside of the school made it look like an old library. Because the building was so low to the ground with low, dark roofs. I felt uneasy and depressed when I looked at the buildings.

This made me consider how a building can push people away. Architecture can be unattractive and strange, and it will make those who see the building feel the same way. It is make or break for your organization or church or school.
