Ridley Student Center

One of the most challenging buildings to create are student centers because they must not only be able to facilitate a plethora of different purposes, from collaboration spaces to study areas to places of socialization, but they must also be places that encourage gathering and are visually a center of the University. I believe the Phillip Freelon has succeeded in creating a beautiful focal point with the Elizabeth City State University Ridley Student Center. It had to compete between two existing campus meeting places that it was placed in between, however, the student center architecturally overshadows almost every other building on that campus. Like the many different structural components, the student union takes café and lunch areas, a student bookstore, lounges and private rooms and create the ultimate representation of university student life.RSC1 RSC2 RSC3
