Reunion Tower (Dallas)

Upon first viewing the Reunion Tower in Dallas as a young kid, I was curious how a ball could be sitting on top of a building. Built by Welton Beckett & Associates and costing $35 million dollars to build in 1975, the tower now serves as one of the most iconic buildings in the Dallas skyline. Each of the four concrete pillars that hold up “The Ball” is made with glass panels that allow people to see their assent and decent of the 68 second ride it takes for the elevators to reach the top and bottom. A unique future inside the building located in the fine dining restaurant Five Sixty, the seating area actually rotates around the circumference of the ball so that people dining can see a 360-degree view of the downtown area. One really cool feature of Reunion Tower is how the top is surrounded by a set of 259 custom LED fixtures that allow for the celebration of special events and holidays. I have only been once and the moving floors that showed me all of Dallas was by far my favorite part. I’m exited for this weekend being OU/TX because I’m curious what colors the ball will be displaying for this weekend’s events. Reunion tower was and will continue to be one of the most common landmarks of Dallas.Reunion_tower_dallas_texas_051605_kdh Reunion Tower 537c974945f8fff6f7e0c7dd25b4f22f
