Museum of Contemporary Art- San Diego

In 1996 Venturi and Scott Brown added a massive $9.2 million addition to the pre-existing museum of Contemporary Art in San Diego. This massive renovation added 30,000 square feet of space to the museum in a variety of places. Such as gaining more exhibit space, offices, and even classroom areas for the building, even creating an outdoor space for a sculpture park at the museum. The addition added the typical Venturi twist to postmodern architecture with his use of steel and textured glass. This renovation was mainly for expansion and less of a redesign on the exterior of the building, but Venturi and Scott Brown managed to let the addition flow almost seamlessly into the original museum.
