Lippo Center

Completed in 1988, the Lippo Center consists of two towers, one of 44 stories and the other 48.  It is located in Hong Kong, China.  Rudolph’s intent was to give the building “presence” when seen at any distance.  He also intended the buildings to become “dematerialized” by reflecting the ever changing light and “inhabit” the sky.

  1. I like the structure of this building, it is the perfect match between abstract and structured. It is abstract in the construction of that c shape thing, but structured in its repetition. Also, I appreciate the reflective structure.

  2. I really enjoy the shape and structure of the Lippo Center. I don’t think that I have ever seen a building that even looks similar to the Lippo Center. I also think that the idea for the Lippo Center to “inhabit the sky” is an interesting and unique idea that works well with this building.
