For my final post I have negative feelings towards the new Ikea building in Saint Louis MO. While there are other buildings that I dislike more than this one, it jumps to my mind since it was a newer building. While the space was desolate and abandoned before Ikea built their store I see the new building as just unoriginal. The massive single story show room is a simple box that takes up an enormous amount of space. The neon blue and yellow color draws the eye but then there is nothing else to look at while trudging through the expansive parking lot. The first time I saw the building I felt a little let down by the giant advertisement seen from the freeway and surrounding areas. I wish that the architects (if there were any involved) had come up with a more creative design to house the economic super power.
