One of my favorite buildings I have ever visited is Grand Central Station in New York City. What I love about this building is the juxtaposition of new and old that surrounds this building.  The architectural details inside and out of this building are so intricate and ornate that they transport you to another time.  However, when you are there there is an overwhelming buzz that can only be found in a city so populated as New York.  The ceiling of grand central is one of its most identifiable features.  The main concourse has an elaborately decorated astronomical ceiling that was designed by Paul Helleu in 1912.  Also, the number of functions this building is able to serve is impressive. Not only do thousands of people use this station for transportation it is also a main tourist attraction for 21.9 million people each year.
