One of the most distinct of ascetic exterior features is the lack of mating surface for the walls and roof. The steel beams start at the floor and are a part of the roof as a whole. It excels in superior structural strength.  The build site is located in one the most unstable parts of the earth’s crust. The nest is expected to survive the most turbulent of earthquakes. It sat more than 90,000 spectators during the Olympic Games. beijing-olympics-opening-ceremony-bird-s-nest-beijing-china

  1. I have always loved this building! I remember watching the Olympics and being blown away by the amount of money and workers used to build the birds nest. What a fantastic structure, I wonder what they do with it now?
