One of SOM Architectures newest buildings is Beijing Greenland Center. It was just finished this year and is a new addition to the Dawangjing business district. Unlike the other SOM buildings I have shown this is one of SOM’s elegant skyscrapers, that follows old patterns such as the Cadets Chapel and uses a trapezoid shapes to give a modern look to the building. The height of the building is mainly glass panels aiding in reduction of energy use. This being similar to Devon Energy Centers method here in OKC to reduce the amount of energy to light the building due to the amount of available natural light. The trapezoid glass panels also create a woven texture giving the building a really unique overall appearance.
