The GJS also known as The House of Garden was a design that submitted into a competition by Mari Ito and her team at the Urban Architecture Office (UAo). Mari and her team won this competition and was built in 2008. The building is an information center in Gunma, Japan. The building is the middle of a busy city and has very large windows which allows for a lot of natural light. Like many of Mari other projects it has a very clean and elegant look.

Sunlight Square
Sunlight building is not an actual building but this design was entered into a contest and took 3rd place. This is another one of Mari Ito designs and you can see the similarities to her Science Museum building. I like the curved design of the building and the open court yards. Also, you can see some of the ways she’s trying to make the building more sustainable.
IWM house
Another amazing house built by Mari Ito and her team is the IWM house. The IWM house was built in the urban district of Osaka, Japan. The IWM house has very high ceilings and is very spacious. As you can tell from the picture it appears to be built in a very tight space but gives off the opposite vibes. “The dining and living area may access an open-air patio which is partially enclosed with an exterior wall, strategically screens unwanted views from adjacent structures and offers dwellers direct sunlight and framed outward views of details.”
FKI house
The FKI house was built in Higashikurume-shi, tokyo back in 2011 by the Urban Architect Office. This unique building sticks out from the rest of the wooden buildings in the area. I like the spacious feel the house gives off. I’m also a big fan of the clean design. The Urban Architect Office is known for their outstanding residential houses.
ABE House
The ABE House is another project created by Mari Ito and her team at the Urban Architecture Office. This 3 story building is located just on the outskirts of Tokyo, Japan in a residential area. I like how this building was designed and even though it is a very populated are but house feels very spacious. I like the high ceilings and the large arch ways.
Science Hills Komatsu
The Science Hills Komatsu was created by Mari Ito and her team at Urban Architecture Office. The building is located in Komatsu, Ishikawa, Japan and was completed in 2013. The science museum was created as a sustainable building and echoes the rich history Komatsu community. An auditorium is contained within the dome in the north-west corner of the site, while the main exhibition space is located beneath one of the largest waves. “People can stroll freely inside and outside of the broad waves and view exhibits from many aspects,” said Ito. “The rooftop curve serves as a sweeping canopy controlling light and also drains rain water into a reservoir for planting irrigation.”
The Palazzo
AT&T Stadium (Jerry’s World)
AT&T Stadium is home to the Dallas Cowboys (this year’s Superbowl Champs) and is located in Arlington, Tx. The construction of Jerry’s World was completed in 2009. The stadium can currently sit 80,000 people. I haven’t had the opportunity to attend as a vistor but I work at the stadium during the 2013-2014 season. It was a great experince getting to see what goes on behind the curtin at Jerry’s World. I loved getting to work down on the field during game days.
Petco Park
Petco Park is the home to the San Diego Padres and lives in the heart of downtown San Diego, CA. The city of San Diego began construction of the fairly new stadium back in 2001 but the project faced delays due to political reason. Petco Park was finally completed in 2004 and the Padres had their first home game in March.
I am a Texas Rangers fan but while I was living in San Diego I loved hopping on the train with a couple drinks and going to watch the Padres play some baseball.
Price College of Business
If I had to pick one building that meant the most to me it would be the Price College of Business. I spend most of my time on campus at Price and I’ve had the opportunity to meet some amazing people in this building. Honestly, I never thought I’d be attending college let alone be a student at The University of Oklahoma. So every time I walk into Price it’s a reminder that life will take you off the beaten path but hard work will always get you to where you want to go.
