Preserving history through art form is absolutely crucial in Italian culture, and you can tell as you walk through the cobblestone/brick streets and encounter numerous century-old buildings and churches. In Siena, we were given the opportunity to see the cathedral and boy were we in for a treat. The detail of this cathedral was mind-blowing. So mind blowing in fact that I simply didn’t know where to look. It was one of the first churches I’d seen in Italy where I entered its vast doors and the inside was even more impressive than the outside. I swear every detail from the pillars, chairs, to the marble floor was decorated.
This Cathedral was awesome! One of my favorite buildings on my study abroad trip as well. The Pope busts along the ceiling trim was so cool!
