The Cotton Bowl

The Cotton bowl stadium one of Dallas, TX most notable landmarks. The stadium was built in 1930 and official got its name in 1936. Many pro-athlete, collegiate, and high school teams have played in this stadium. The stadium has even been used to host a few of the World Cup games.

Today if you ask someone from Dallas about the Cotton Bowl they will tell you it’s synonymous with the State Fair of Texas and the TX/OU Red River rivalry. Growing up we attended the state fair every year and I would stare at the Cotton Bowl in awe.

The first football game I got to watch in the Cotton Bowl was also the first time I got to attend an OU game. It was an amazing experience getting to watch OU beat Texas live! Then I walked into the state fair to celebrate/ eat as much fried food as possible. I promise you can never go wrong with a deep fried snicker and some ice cream.

  1. Perfect timing. That first time you fight your way in and see the divide or hear the chants from each school, magical. There has been many debate, but I can’t think of another game that can come close.

  2. This is obviously one of my favorites buildings as well but maybe because of all the memories I have in that stadium. I have been going to OUTX since I can remember and I love the energy and sound that carries in this stadium as well!
