Cathedral Basilica- Saint Louis, MO

My third post is the about the Cathedral Basilica and the ethereal feeling I have towards the building as a whole. Unsurprisingly the Basilica is a statement and a regal bragging right of the downtown Saint Louis area. Upon seeing it nestled between huge towering buildings is a very otherworldly feeling. The tall towers and large circular stained glass window is what in my mind a church should look like. The first memory I have of it was during a field trip in the 5th grade. When walking up the shallow steps the basilica quiets any group, every time you approach it by echoing sentiments of being a holy place as well as quieting the visitor just by the sheer size and grandness of the building. As a 5th grader I admired the building and was very proud to know that something so beautiful stood in the streets of downtown saint Louis. The interior of the basilica is just as breathtaking as the exterior, with vaulted ceilings that rise up above the pews, adorned with ornate paintings and sculpted pillars. All in all the medieval architecture and ornate gothic decorations make the basilica one of my favorite buildings in my home city.Cathedral_Basilica_of_Saint_Louis_(St._Louis,_MO)_-_exterior,_quarter_view
