Oklahoma State Capitol

state captiol 1 state capitol state capitol 2

The Oklahoma State Capitol is Greco-Roman structure and this is common with many municipal buildings. The building is composed of many types of granite and limestone.  The Capitol is interesting because it was not originally located in Oklahoma City, but relocated from Guthrie. The building was completed in 1917 and is a common structure that is associated with Oklahoma City. The Capitol was originally designed to include a dome, but due to underlying causes, it was not included until 2002. The building is fairly large in size and sits on an eleven acre plot and includes a little over 600 rooms. The Capitol is also the only Capitol building in the world to have active oil wells surrounding it.
