Double House-James Walker

This project was built in 2009, located in Zaragoza, Spain and the reason behind it being named the double house is an interesting component of design. The house is called the double house because it incorporates an urban setting in a specifically rural area. The house also features a few design aspects of saving energy and resource consumption by a planting roof which prevents heat overflow in the summers. The square foundation of the house is built for functionality and maintaining specific characteristics of a sturdy household; whereas, the outside sections that go beyond the square foundation are built supremely for a flowing natural tie to the surrounding wildlife. I think this type of architecture is interesting because we see the dual elements of the house itself intertwining and reacting together to form a single identity.
