Red Bull Music Academy-James Walker

Model 2 3

This project was created by Maria and Victor Navarro in a relatively short time period (five months) due to complications with location of the annual Red Bull Tour. This project is located Madrid, Spain and is unique and remarkable in structure. This project encompasses many aspects of architecture like organic modern furnishes to tie in with grey concrete backdrops. This design is ultimately difficult to accommodate events due to a short time period for development, but also to allow a huge influx of individuals all coming to the event at once. The architects had to design a structure that would fit to a younger generation that follows the cultural theme of music, while portraying important parts of architecture like gabled arches and allowance of natural light to stimulate an indoor organic environment. The ceiling of the great room is also very unique and with the addition of the black and white striped triangles, the depth of the room greatly increases in optical illusion. The design of the overall structure is very wide and can be compared to a river. This would symbolize the flow of people moving throughout the location as they observe the offset green scenery and travel to each event space that is filled with bright colors to emanate musical celebration.  This type of architecture interests me because it is designed for a younger generation and founded upon themes of entertainment for a large audience.

  1. Buildings do not come much more unique than this one. It is a very modern layout. I was amazed to read the short period of time in which it was produced.
