The Portland Building is a 15-story office building designed by architect Michael Graves. It opened in 1982 in downtown Portland, Oregon, and cost an estimated 29 million dollars. It uses an array of surface colors and materials, and was designed with small windows spread across the building. The Portland Building differed in architectural style than what was common for large office buildings during this time period. Because of this, it became an icon postmodern architecture and the very first postmodern building. Recently, in July of 2016, plans to renovate the Portland Building were discussed and approved with a maximum cost of 140 million dollars. This building currently has the capacity to hold around 1,300 employees.
