The Background of the life of Erich Mendelsohn

A Jewish German expressionist architect, born March 21, 1887, in East Prussia; he studied economics at the University of Munich and would go on to study architecture at multiple institutes, the last of which being the Technical University of Munich. He did private practice in Munich until he married cellist Luise Maas. He designed many iconic buildings in Germany until In 1933 he and his wife fled the Third Reich Party in Germany . He took up office in the U.K. and changed his name to “Eric” and he practiced there for some time. From 1941 until his death he and his wife lived in the United States and Erich took up academia and taught at the university of California, Berkley. He is especially known for his work for the Jewish community.
