The Sunchase Beachfront Condos in South Padre Island, Texas are two story condominiums made from brick and stucco designed to withstand extreme weather including hurricanes near the shoreline of the Gulf of Mexico. These humble condos consist of three to four rooms on each floor with a living area included. Behind these small condominiums, a unique hotel stands facing the beach. The hotel is made from concrete and rectangular glass panels that ascend one story each time heading toward the center of the building from both sides looking like a “V.” The design is very unique and complex, and the endless view overlooking the ocean just adds to its glory.

My family has been going to South Padre Island every summer even before I was born. While looking back at the hotel, playing on the brick condos, swimming in the community pool filled with art designs made of tile, running around in the sand dunes, and seeing my entire family all together for one week of the summer each year, South Padre Island gained a special place in my heart, and I will always remember how basic, yet beautiful the Sunchase Beachfront looked each and every time we go.
