Virasat-E-Khalsa

Located in Anandpur Sahib, Punjab, India this structure began construction as early as 1999 and is still under construction on the inside. It is one of the most breath-taking structures I’ve seen and the interior is even more so. Taking photos of the inside is prohibited as this is a museum of the religion of Sikhism. The roofs of the museum are concave shaped reflectors that shine light towards the nearby Gurdwara (place of worship) and a near by Fortress. IMG_9359

This is one of the few I was able to find that best depicts the interior chambers, they are huge and all of the rooms you go into are interactive and arranged in a chronological order showing you the origins of Sikhism. The whole experience is amazing, first when you see the structure from the outside, then you get to go in and see all of the different types of chambers, then you get to go the outside and walk around all of the reflecting pools and see the architecture. It’s something to witness yourself to truly understand its size.

  1. This place looks incredible! It leaves me curious to see what is on the inside. It’s so massive it looks like it could be its own city. I’ve never seen a building with such uniqueness yet sophistication.
